Subsidies do not reach the farmers - Ilham Aliyev
At the February 12 meeting, devoted to the implementation of the State program of socio-economic development of regions in 2009-2013, President Ilham Aliyev said negative things about the provision of agricultural subsidies. "Subsidies do not reach the address or assign to someone else," the President said.
In general, commenting on the situation in the agricultural sector, the president criticized the inaction of the Ministry of Agriculture, without specifying a particular address, pointing out that his orders are not executed. In parallel, he praised the work of the Ministry of Economic Development, which "provides technical assistance to farmers," gives them credit "with the needs and requirements."
The President noted that in some cases the volume of production and area under cultivation artificially inflated in order to "get more subsidies." "Subsidies are flowing into the pockets of government officials," said Aliyev. The cost of purchased overseas manufacturing equipment is overstated. All these accusations concerned activities of Agriculture and acting with him of "Aqrolizinq".
The President once again ordered the government to give suggestions for improving the mechanism for providing farmers with agricultural subsidies. He appealed to the farmers to inform him about their problems.
In 2013, the government envisages to provide agricultural enterprises and private farms about 125 mln AZN in subsidies. - 08D-
