New Year's Eve consultations of the Powers
Baku/30.12.21/Turan: US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken held a telephone conversation on December 29 with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and British Foreign Minister Elizabeth Truss.
According to the State Department, they discussed the importance of continuing coordination to deter any further Russian aggression against Ukraine and confirmed the consensus among allies and partners on the readiness to ensure huge negative consequences and serious costs for Russia in connection with such actions.
The Foreign Ministers reaffirmed their unwavering support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The Secretary of State and his colleagues also discussed their common concerns about the pace of development of Iran's nuclear program, as Tehran has little time left to return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
They stressed their solidarity with Lithuania in the face of increased political pressure and economic coercion from the People's Republic of China and rejected such practices.
The parties also discussed Libya's ongoing efforts to organize national elections and agreed on the importance of moving the electoral process forward as soon as possible.
According to TASS, a telephone conversation between Putin and Biden is scheduled for December 30 at 23:30 Moscow time. The call will be held in a closed mode for the press, according to the schedule of the American president distributed by the White House.—0—
