Российско-Украинские переговоры в Стамбуле
Podolyak responded to Peskov's statement about the transfer of the draft document on the peace agreement to Kiev
Kyiv /20.04.22/UNIAN: The adviser to the head of the OP commented on the words of the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation that Russia has handed over to Ukraine a draft settlement document, but Kiev is in no hurry to react.
Russians too often use public statements only as an element of mandatory pressure.
This was stated by the adviser to the head of the President's Office, Mikhail Podolyak, in response to the words of the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov that Russia had handed over to Ukraine a draft settlement document, but Kiev was in no hurry to react.
"It seems to me that one or another Russian speaker should not be used as newsmakers. It is much better to rely only on official reports from the Ukrainian side. Because Russians too often use public statements only as an element of mandatory pressure. Why should they play along?", - said Podolyak.
Speaking about the negotiation process, he recalled that Ukraine, even within the framework of the Istanbul Round, handed over to the opponents' side "its proposals for formula solutions."
"In particular, regarding security guarantees as a guarantee of subsequent non-aggression against our country. The Russian side has studied the proposals and expressed its counter positions. Then it's our turn to study, compare, and draw conclusions. Including, of a political and legal nature," Podolyak said.
As reported, Peskov said today that Russia has handed over to Ukraine a draft settlement document, but Kiev is in no hurry to react.
The Kremlin representative accused the Ukrainian side of the negotiations of constantly moving away from previously agreed positions, constantly changing them, which, according to him, negatively affects the effectiveness of the negotiations.
Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine
As UNIAN reported, the first round of negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine and the Russian Federation took place in Istanbul on March 29. At these talks, Ukraine offered to sign an international treaty on a new system of security guarantees for it.
On April 12, the head of the Ukrainian negotiating group, the head of the parliamentary faction "Servant of the People" David Arahamiya said that the Ukrainian side adheres to the Istanbul communique and has not changed its position in negotiations with Russia.
Earlier, Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the President's Office, a member of the Ukrainian negotiating group, admitted that negotiations with Russia were actually frozen. He could not predict when the next round of direct negotiations would take place.

A Space X test flight went spectacularly wrong last month when the Starship craft exploded in the skies above the Caribbean. The explosion littered the sky with debris and looked fresh from a Michael Bay film, but the fallout has been less glamorous for the residents of one tropical island nation who have been left clearing up the space junk that now litters their beaches.
