During Sunday's protest authorities were ready to use long-range acoustic device (LRAD - «Long Range Acoustic Device»), also known as the "sound / acoustic cannon") to disperse the rally participants. These devices were noticed on Sunday, at least in four places, including the headquarters of the ruling party "Yeni Azerbaijan".
According to "Wikipedia», LRAD is a weapon developed by the American Technology Corporation in 2000 to protect against terrorist attacks, pirates, militant demonstrators. To influence the people 150 decibels is used. For comparison, the noise of the engines of jet aircraft is about 120 decibels and 130 decibels can damage organs of hearing.
Experts argue that such a system can cause severe damage to internal organs.
Acoustic cannon were used to disperse anti-government protesters in Georgia in 2007. As a result, 508 people have been forced to seek medical help. The victims reported symptoms characteristic of toxic substances, impaired consciousness, panic, loss of memory.
