Azerbaijani Defense Ministry"s Response to the Threat from Yerevan
Armenian armed forces consider long-range missiles priority military training and, if necessary, they will strike on enemy targets of economic value, in particular, oil and gas pipelines. Yesterday the journalists were told by the Chief of Operations of the General Staff of Armenia Major General Artak Davtyan. According to him, Armenia's military technology can strike at a distance of 300 km or more.
Recent military exercises also involved missile strikes. "We will, if necessary, hit on important economic enemy targets and infrastructure. We do not strike at civilians and do not plan it. Our planned targets will be military and economic targets, in particular, oil and gas infrastructure," he said.
In response to these comments, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan said: "Courage of the Armenian side does not come from itself, but from the side. As for oil and gas infrastructure, it is shared by Azerbaijan with the major powers of the world and their companies. Besides, there are all necessary forces and air defenses to protect the infrastructure. At the same time, the enemy must remember that the new missile system in Azerbaijan can reach any strategic site in the territory of Armenia."
Note that the Armenian side has old Soviet short-range missiles Scud, and Chinese systems of salvo fire Typhoon. Military experts say that these weapons are not a kind of high-precision weapons and are unlikely to cause sighting strikes.
Azerbaijan has a missile system Point U and a number of others that may cover the whole territory of Armenia and Karabakh. -02D-
