George Washington University to prepare specialists for Azerbaijan
Baku / 12.03.20 / Turan: On March 12, an agreement was signed between the ADA University and George Washington University on a two-year master's program at the Ministry of Education.
The project is being implemented within the framework of the state program of Azerbaijan and will be partially financed by the oil company BP.
The ceremony was attended by Education Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, ADA University Rector Hafiz Pashayev, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lee Litsenberger, BP Regional President for Azerbaijan and Turkey Gary Jones.
The program provides training in computer science and DATA analysis. Classes will be held on the curriculum of George Washington University.
Admission to the ADA Master's program as part of the program will begin 2020-2022. Three graduate semesters will be held in Baku, two in Washington. Students will be selected by the American side. Graduates will receive diplomas from both universities.
According to Hafiz Pashayev, in five years 100 students will receive master's degrees. Of these, 20 will be able to participate in the program for the title of doctor.
Minister Bayramov said that another 130 specialists would be trained under the program between the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and George Washington University.
US Ambassador Litsenberger, in turn, said that the implementation of the master's program and the training of specialists would contribute to the development of computer technology and engineering in Azerbaijan. -03C06-

On Monday, the Baku Appeals Court considered the appeal of Talysh researcher Iqbal Abilov against the extension of his detention for another four months. The defense argued that the decision to extend Abilov's detention was unjustified, lawyer Fariz Namazly told reporters.
