Peskov made it clear that Russia will not send troops to Karabakh
Moscow / 22.10.20 / Turan: Russia does not see any other way to resolve the Karabakh conflict, except diplomatic. "Russia has done and is doing everything possible to bring the current situation into the mainstream of political and diplomatic settlement. We are still convinced that this problem has no alternative to a peaceful settlement," Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, told reporters on Thursday.
When asked to comment on Pashinyan's words that a diplomatic settlement is impossible today, Peskov forwarded the question to the Armenian authorities. Why Yerevan thinks so "we should ask the President of Armenia," he said.
He added that the involvement of third countries in the settlement in Nagorno-Karabakh is possible only with the consent of both parties to the conflict. "As for the participation of third countries in the existing settlement formats, this entirely depends on the political will of the parties to the conflict. There are two of them - Azerbaijan and Armenia. It is possible to participate in the settlement of the conflict, be a kind of mediator or participate in the formats only with the consent of the two sides," he said, answering the question about the possibility of involving Turkey in the settlement of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Thus, Peskov actually rejected calls from a number of Moscow officials to send Russian troops into Karabakh in order to save the Armenians. -02D-
