Post-election promises of President Ilham Aliyev
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev who ignored the voters throughout the campaign with the unveiling of the head of the Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov of the preliminary results of the presidential elections, hastened to thank the people for voting as the winner .
"I am grateful to the native people , who gave me great confidence and re-elected me to the presidency. I want to assure the people of Azerbaijan that I shall continue to adequately serve my people and I will always defend national interests of Azerbaijan," says the statement released by Aliyev to the people at night on October 10.
Then the head of the state lists the successes that, Aliyev said, Azerbaijan has achieved over the last 10 years under his leadership.
" I am infinitely proud that all of my initiatives in recent years have become a reality . Ten years ago - in 2003, I promised the people , and said that if I was given the confidence I would remain faithful to the policy of Heydar Aliyev. While remaining committed to this policy for the past ten years, we have done a great job in the name of development and progress of Azerbaijan. Our independence is irreversible and indestructible," said Aliyev .
"Trust in me in this election in a landslide vote is, on the one hand, assessment of the work done, and on the other , - the intention expressed by the people , the requirement relating to the further development of Azerbaijan .
We look to the future with great hope , with great optimism ," said Aliyev further .
Our policy for the years ahead is clear and open , Aliyev continued .
" We will continue to pursue a consistent policy on the development of democracy in Azerbaijan. The process of building a modern state will continue. In the coming years, even more serious will be the fight to eliminate the negative effects , particularly against corruption and bribery," emphasized Aliyev.
He further points out that the focus of the state will be also aimed at social issues.
"Protection of the last ten years of stability and public order caused these realities . People in Azerbaijan live in safety , it is one of our distinctive qualities," said Aliyev .
Finally Aliyev assured that every effort will be made to work for the welfare of the people and strengthen our country. "Together we will achieve great victories. Long live the independent Republic of Azerbaijan !" summed Aliyev . - 06D -
