The court rejects an appeal by NIDA activist
Today's meeting at the Baku Court of Appeal, rejected the Mohammed Azizov’s complaint on the arrest of a NIDA youth activist. He asked to change the measure of restraint to house arrest. His lawyer Fariz Namazly, called this decision “unfair and unreasonable", and protection of Azizov will continue, he said. A Turan correspondent reported from the scene that after the news of the complaint’s rejection, a group of youth activists held a silent rally in front of the court, holding his portrait. From March 8-15, four activists of NIDA have been arrested, and are accused of preparing disorder involving explosives and drug possession. All of them held for two or three months, during the investigation period. The arrests occurred before and after the March 10 protest in the center of Baku, protesting against the deaths of soldiers. -16B-
