The prosecutor offers to condemn Intigam Aliyev to 10 years in prison
At the trial in the case of human rights defender Intigam Aliyev spoke prosecutor.
Attorney Farid Aliyev Naghiyev suggested sentence to 10 years' imprisonment in a penal jail. He also asked the court to deny the right Aliyev to hold positions in state and municipal bodies within three years after serving his sentence.
Aliyev himself in his testimony before the speech of the prosecutor stated that the charges are far-fetched and a lawsuit was fabricated. He noted that the lawsuit against NGOs is politically motivated in order to silence civil society, and create the atmosphere of fear in the country.
Closing speeches of protection are scheduled for April 21.
** Intigam Aliyev was arrested on 8 August, 2014 on charges of illegal business, tax evasion and abuse of office. Subsequently, he was also accused of embezzling and forgery. Amnesty International recognized him as a “prisoner of conscience.”- 06C-
