Why does military agreement between Moscow and Tehran disrupt?
The agreement between the presidents of Iran and the Russia obtained in Baku on the use the aerodrome in Hamada disrupted. It happened on the fault of the Russian side, which violated the confidentiality regime, and put Iran in a difficult position before the Islamic world and its own population, said in an interview with Turan a known historian, Professor Jamil Hasanli. "Even the Iranian Defense Minister Hussein Dehkani publicly accused Russia that it is not able to keep its mouth shut, and actually drove the Russian aviation from the base in Hamadan," said Hasanli.
It is noteworthy, this was the first time since the 1979 Islamic revolution, when Iran has launched the military forces of another country on its territory. It is an unprecedented case in the military strategy and foreign policy of Iran. To use one of the country's airspace, but to use military facilities on its territory - is quite another.
Naturally, the information about that caused an anger in the conservative Iranian parliament. "It was seen as a departure from the principles of Imam Khomeini, as well as the rejection of Islamic sympathy policy.
According to constitutional principles, Iran considers as a priority the protection of the Muslims all over the world. In Syria, as we know, the warring parties are Muslims, while Iran has helped the Christian Russia to bomb the Syrian opposition.
Finally, the Iran's Constitution prohibits the admission of foreign troops into its territory. Therefore, the hasty withdrawal of the Russian aviation is only for preventing emerging public protests, said historian.
How will this conflict affect the policy of Moscow and Tehran on other regions of the Middle East? For example in Yemen, where the positions of Iran and Russia coincide.
Answering this question, the professor said that Iran will not give up its plans to gain a foothold in the region thank to Russia and resist the pressure of Saudi Arabia, Yemen and elsewhere.
Iran needs a reliable and strong back in the face of Moscow, so in the future military alliance with Moscow soon will continued, said Hasanli.
At the same time, the failure of the Hamadan agreement will seriously affect military operations in Syria. Thus, the heavy bombers Tu-22M3 cannot land on the Hmeymim airport in Syria, and will again have to fly extra 1,000 kilometers from Mozdok, across the Caspian Sea to Iran, Iraq and later in Syria. Iran's refusal deprives Russia to strengthen its role in the Syrian conflict, said Hasanli. -04D-
