-Togrul, in one of the statuses you wrote about migration. You write that according to official information, in 2012-2017 the number of citizens of the country that left and did not return to Azerbaijan amounted to 182.2 thousand people. Only in 2017 this figure was 43.6 thousand. During the same period, the number of foreigners in Azerbaijan was 8.1 thousand people. (In 2017, 4.5 thousand people). What does his statistic mean?
-This statistic reflects current trends. So, in 2012 this figure was 31.9 thousand (in 2011 - 50.7 thousand), in 2013 the dynamics decreased significantly - up to 9000. In 2014 this figure, it can be said, repeated (10.5 thousand). In other words, trends show that people preferred to stay in their country. However, in 2015, as a result of the economic crisis, the number of emigrants sharply increased. In 2015, the difference was already 25.9 thousand people. That is, there was an increase of 2.5 times. In 2016, 61.3 thousand, in 2017 - 43.6 thousand.
- Who, do you think, leaves the country and for what reasons do they want to do this?
-According to my observations, mostly young people with higher education and certain experience want to leave the country. In most cases, young people who have gone abroad for study remain there, although their return in many cases could help the economy of the country.
-What is the purpose of those who leave the country, education or completely different goals?
The statistics provided by the Migration Service are only figures that do not indicate who left, where and why. According to statistics, the citizens of Azerbaijan leaving for abroad basically go either for rest or for work. I believe that the majority are those who go to work.
-Toqrul, you're also young. That is, most of your environment is young people. For this reason, I believe that it is better to address this question to you. In recent years, young people are trying to get education abroad. This makes me happy. However, it is disappointing that most of them do not want to return after training. They prefer to build their career and life in other countries. Why do you think young people do not want to return?
- I believe that this is due to the existing relations in the society. Most people after higher education wish to return to higher positions. Their education allows this, but I do not believe that this is possible. There are also those who do not believe that they will make a career in their own country. Therefore, they prefer living abroad. Yes, and the reality is that students who have studied abroad, after returning home, after a while again leave it, because they cannot get used to the local environment.
-What can be done to encourage young people to return to their homeland? What conditions should be created at home?
- It is difficult to answer this question, because in Azerbaijan there is actually one branch - oil, oil industry and auxiliary industries. Their requirements are sufficiently satisfied. There are actually no other regions, so we need opportunities to create other industries.
- What will happen if the rate of emigration remains at the same level? What will this lead to and how to prevent it?
-The situation of the 90s or the first ten years of the 2000s will repeat itself. There is a hope on the activities of professionals in many sectors, because young people begin to receive a good education in many areas. Their return and activities could open many opportunities. And now we again begin to depend on foreign specialists. If it continues, then we will need them even in the most common industries.
