Azerbaijan is strengthening the defense industry
Minister of Defense Industry Yavar Jamalov presented to the Azerbaijani government the development plan for the defense industry. In particular, it is proposes creation of new production sites and the purchase of production technologies.
Speaking Wednesday at an event dedicated to the professional holiday of workers of the defense industry, Jamalov said that in 2007-2014 years were created more than 50 new production sites. The volume of production over the years has grown by 2.4 times.
"Enterprises of the Ministry produced and delivered to customers mortars, machine guns, submachine guns, drones "Aerostar " and other products of the defense industry," press-service agency quoted the Minister.
In 2014, companies began to produce capsules, which reduced external dependence on the production of ammunition. Serial production of combat system for automatic mortars AGS-30 30 mm caliber ammunition for mortars, night vision type A-100, factory tests conducted sniper rifles were complited, he said.
Director General of "Agregat", Farhad Jafarguliyev, said that the Baku instrument making plant, is working on the modernization of two types of military equipment, which is exported to Russia and other countries.
Mubariz Agayev ,General Director of Research and Production Enterprise "Dalga" , said that his company will repair 37 items of arms, the production of two types of defense products, as well as disposal of unsuitable arms.-02D-

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported no information about any destruction or casualties as a result of the earthquakes.
