Court of Appeal leaves Pasha Umudov under arrest
Baku/25.10.19/Turan: On Friday, the Baku Court of Appeal did not satisfy the complaint about the arrest of Popular Front Party activist Pasha Umudov.
According to his lawyer, Zibeyda Sadigova, on October 16, the Narimanov District Court arrested Umudov for 3 months on charges of drug trafficking.
In court, Umudov said he was awaiting his arrest before the rally on October 19.
For even before the previous protests, the opposition was detained on far-fetched charges.
“Is it plausible to keep drugs with you in such a situation?” the activist said.
However, the court did not grant the defense’s motion to annul the decision of the trial court and release Umudov. The defense intends to put forward new petitions to change the preventive measure, and in particular the replacement of arrest with house arrest. –06D--

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
