Deceived citizens unveil the names of companies-swindlers

A group of individuals claiming that they have been deceived by construction firms, conducted on Tuesday a press conference to talk about their troubles. The lawyer of victims of the firm “Kamran BA” Tagi Huseynov said that these people are fighting since 2008, but cannot get their apartments or invested money.

In 2013 the company led by Alekper Babayev was arrested, but the court ruled that the damage to citizens will be paid after the sale of the property of the firm’s management.  However, so far this has not happened. Furthermore, apartments for which rent is paid, the new management company, sold to others.

"There are facts of sale of the same apartment to four and  five people," said the lawyer. The appeals to various instances fail. The Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the trial court for compensation due to the sale of the property of the company’s management, however, has been challenged.

The case was sent to the Supreme Court, but the terms of consideration are unknown.

"We do not know where else to appeal, who is able to restore justice, we are in a hopeless situation. During this time, several people died, many are sick, we are in a desperate situation, " said one of the victims of fraud.

 The  problem of defrauded investors is not new, and was especially acute since 2006.  The construction boom has created a serious corruption and lawlessness. Many companies are faced with extortion of state officials and became bankrupts paying bribes. As a result, there were not funds to complete the construction or simply low quality buildings were built. At the same time, there are random people in the construction market who do not hesitate to deceive people.

All this time, the authorities have been unable or unwilling to restore order in this area.
