Election of delegates to the Civil Society Forum of Eastern Partnership
Today the office of the Center for Economic Research (CER) hosts the first round of voting in the election of delegates from Azerbaijan at the IV Civil Society Forum of the EU Eastern Partnership, which will take place in Stockholm on 28-30 November.
The secret ballot election will also elect new members to the National Platform of Civil Society Forum.
The voting involves 38 active members of the National Platform, which elect 26 delegates (23 core + 3 spares) from among the 110 NGOs that have filed an application to Brussels on the right to participate at the Stockholm Forum.
As the national coordinator of the National Platform of Civil Society Forum, Gubad Ibadoglu, said, of the 38 current members of the National Platform no more than 16 people can be elected. Thus, the composition of the National Platform will expand by 10 people.
The second round of the voting will take place in the European Union mission in Baku, which will determine 26 candidates from the same number of 110 representatives.
Finally, Brussels will host the third round of voting for candidates selected by the National Platform and the EU mission. As a result, the Stockholm Forum will be attended by candidates with the highest number of votes in the first three rounds.
The voting will end today at 17:00, and the results will be announced tonight.
It is notable that most of the applicants to take part in the IV Civil Society Forum of the EU Eastern Partnership come from Azerbaijan - 110.
In Ukraine, 98 NGOs expressed a desire to participate in the forum, in Armenia -76, in Georgia - 65, in Belarus - 56, and in Moldova - 55.
The forum will be attended by a total of 150 people. The agenda of the forum will be determined at the Board Meeting on 17-18 July.
Note that the Civil Society Forum Eastern Partnership discusses problems and solutions on four platforms: human rights and democracy, economic integration, environmental protection and energy security, and the development of interpersonal relationships. -06c-
