Former political prisoner and his sister are threatened
Baku/01.06.21/Turan: Turkan Rustamzade, the sister of the former political prisoner Ilkin Rustamzade, was threatened and pressured on the street by a stranger, Ilkin told Turan about this.
“Last night, when my sister was returning home from the Ahmadli metro station, the young man grabbed her from behind and, holding her mouth with his hand, said. “Warn your brother, let him be wiser”. After that, he let her go and ran away, Rustamzade told Turan.
He believes that what happened is connected with his new book "The History of Darkness", where he spoke about his political activities and revealed the dark sides of the prisons of Azerbaijan.
“I think my book may be the reason. The responsibility lies directly with the government. 10 days ago, a massive campaign was launched against me on the social network because I criticized the Iranian state and those who support its policy. Some see this as an insult to believers, but there was nothing like that in my status. However, some groups of believers started campaigning and I faced real threats. I still receive insulting and threatening messages from foreign numbers; they threaten to kill me,” Ilkin Rustamzade said.
The Interior Ministry told the Turan news agency that the issue will be investigated and then information will be provided. -0-

Amid the bustling scenes of this year’s COP29 climate conference, a protest against whaling and deep-sea mining, organized by a group calling itself the FINS Initiative, drew significant attention from delegates and observers. However, questions have arisen about the legitimacy of the group, as an internet search yields little evidence of its existence beyond scattered mentions.

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
