Inhabitants of Hostel of Tagiyev Plant Preparing for Another Campaign
On Wednesday, a group of residents of the former dormitory of the Tagiyev Plant at 38 Javanshir Street in the Khatai district of Baku held a regular press conference in connection with the violation of their rights.
The human rights activist Alekper Mammadov said that after the earthquake in 2000, the dormitory that was home to 160 families and 12 families of internally displaced people became useless. The residents appealed to the metropolitan municipality, which in turn forwarded the appeal to the Cabinet. The Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov instructed to build a new building for the residents of the hostel. For this municipality in 2004 allocated a land in Sadigjan Street.
In May of this year, 80 families were provided with apartments, and the remaining 80 families were left without apartments, because the apartments intended for them were sold. The residents say they were fraudulently caused to sign the paper. Only later they knew that by doing so, they refused of new apartments, preferring to remain in the old dormitory.
The Cabinet decided to renovate the hostel, located in a dangerous condition. So far, 80 families continue to live in this building without any conditions. In connection with this, the tenants are going to hold a rally on October 11 in front of the Administration of the President. -26C04-
