Leyla Yunus refuses medical examination of civilian doctors

At the initiative of civil society, human rights defenders and Ahmed Abbasbeyli  and Saadat Bananyarli together with doctors today visited the Baku prison the arrested human rights activist Leyla Yunus. According to Bananyarli Saadat, there were nine doctors in the group: therapist, ophthalmologist, virology, endocrinology, and others. They took with them a different medical equipment for examination. All the doctors were women. The group was formed by the Ministry of Health, and  among them  there were not employees of the medical service of Ministry of Justice. However, Yunus categorically refused to be examined by these, so doctors made the  relevant act, said Bananyarli.

Abbasbeyli asked Yunus of torture against her in response, she said that she was beaten, but refused to give details, continued Bananyarli. The inmates  of Yunus, three women, said they had not witnessed physical pressure on Yunus.

According  to Bananyarli, Yunus refuses the inspection of prison doctors. In the  book of registrations  her last visit to her doctor was dated November 21. Before she regularly measured the pressure, blood sugar levels. With regard to the conditions, then Yunus contained in a heated chamber - the female body is heated jail, and Yunus has passed  her relatives electric stove. According  to Bananyarli, Yunus was  given  medication.

Being asked  how Leyla  Yunus looked, Bananyarli said she was sitting on his bed, and turned away when a visitor. Therefore, a human rights activist found it difficult to evaluate its appearance.

Bananyarli and Abbasbeyli could  visit  her  in jail  because they are members of the Public Committee to monitor places of detention.

Earlier, lawyers of  Yunus said that human rights defender refuses services of doctors of the  Ministry of Justice because of mistrust. Protecting insists on an independent medical examination.
