The focus of the media is on regional and international relations, new presidential decrees, suicides, and banking bans for citizens on leaving the country.
The Azerbaijan published a front-page article on the visit of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the United States under the title The United States Together with Ilham Aliyev.
The article states that during the visit the sides agreed to expand trade and economic relations. In general, as the newspaper says, bilateral relations are entering a new stage of development.
The Azadlig, commenting on the presidential decree on the establishment of the Agency for Housing, says that where there is no transparency and public control, the formation of new bodies will not lead to the efficient use of public funds.
The expert Rovshan Agayev says we must first have to eliminate corruption.
According to him, Azerbaijan has yet to build affordable housing because of the monopoly on the construction market.
The Echo writes about the planned opening of currency exchange offices. The judge Nariman Agayev believes that the elimination of exchange offices has caused enormous damage to the country's banking sector, because exchangers paid interests to banks from their foreign currency transactions.
The Novoye Vremya in the article The Point of No Return focuses on the problem of frequent suicides. This indicates that in many cases the causes of suicide are debts on bank loans. The publication states that the problem can be solved by joint efforts of the authorities, the bankers and the civil society.
The Bizim Yol reports the maintenance of a ban on leaving the country for thousands of citizens because of their overdue credit debts to banks. The paper argues that these restrictions are not imposed by any court decisions and are just a result of collusion between banks and the Ministry of Justice.
The expert Akram Hasanov considers it as arbitrariness. According to him, even if debtors undertake in the court to repay their loans in part, their freedom of movement cannot be limited. Only if it is established that a debtor deliberately evades credit repayment, restrictions on his leaving the country can be imposed. However, in violation of the law a ban on leaving the country is imposed not only on the debtors, but also on the loan guarantors. -0-

Amid the bustling scenes of this year’s COP29 climate conference, a protest against whaling and deep-sea mining, organized by a group calling itself the FINS Initiative, drew significant attention from delegates and observers. In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
