Pressure on Well-known Lawyer Fariz Namazly
A well-known lawyer Fariz Namazly was invited to the 28th police precinct in the Yasamal district in connection with the incident in the Baku Court of Appeal on October 20.
According to the lawyer, on that day several people, who participated in the trial, attacked him. But, in the 28th police precinct he was informed that the same people filed a complaint against Namazly with Service 102 of MIA. They said that Namazly supposedly beat a woman in the courtroom, causing her injuries.
“The complainant passed the expert examination and the expert ascertained light injuries on her,” said the lawyer.
Namazly told the police he did not beat or inflict injuries to anyone, but on the contrary, he was subjected to a physical attack.
“This is confirmed by the records of surveillance cameras in the courtroom. We have presented these records to the police. They clearly show what was happening in the courtroom,” said Namazly.
According to him, the incident occurred at the hearing on the case of Rasul Fazilov accused of deliberate murder. Namazly spoke for the defense. The conflict in the hall began after the lawyer asked to conduct a partial re-trial.
Namazly is known for protecting the rights of many journalists, civic and political activists. -06D--
