Sentence by the Court of Appeal in the case of "Ismayilli case" is scheduled for September 24
On Thursday continued the Trial in the case of riots in Ismayilly 23-24 January 2014 continued in Sheki Court of Appeal. At the hearing, the judge announced the completion of the proceedings, and gave the floor to the final speeches of the parties. The state prosecutor asked the court to uphold the judgment of the court of first instance. In turn, defense attorneys and defendants themselves have called on the court to acquit.
Ilgar Mammadov in his short speech said that he was not only a citizen of Azerbaijan, but also a European, and the European Court of Human Rights has to say its last word in his case.
The accused Shukran Mehbaliyev noted that when, a few months after his arrest, he was accused under the Article 220.1 (organizing or participating in mass disorder) investigator told him that this was done because of two opposition members (Ilgar Mamedov and Tofig Yagublu.)
"We know what we have to do to prove his innocence. Even in Nazi Germany, there were cases when the accused managed to prove his innocence," said Yagublu. The judge appointed sentencing on 24 September.-06D—
