Traffic Police Urge Drivers to Be Cautious
In connection with the snowfall in Baku and on the Absheron peninsula, the traffic police urged drivers of vehicles and pedestrians to be careful.
As the head of public relations of Baku City Police Kamran Aliyev told the media, almost all highways in the country work and the snow is being cleared. In particular, the Agsu Pass is maintained in a working order.
On the part of the route Baku-Guba (up to the village Jeyranbatan) the road has been covered with sand. Several sections of the highway - Siyazan, Shabran and Guba are icy, but the snow is being cleaned up, he said.
On the highway Baku-Gazakh, up to the village of Sahil, the road has been sprinkled with sand and salt. On other parts of the track there is no snow, and transport is moving without restrictions.
The Alat-Astara highway also remains clean, but there is snow on the road Masalli-Astara.
Due to the difficult weather conditions, Aliyev urged drivers to refrain from the use of private cars and pedestrians to be careful.
Over the past day 15 accidents were registered, killing three people and injuring 18.
January 8 in the evening on the highway Baku-Sumgait there was a serious traffic jam due to the fact that the road is under repair.
Snowfalls made no changes to the work of the Baku airport.
At the same time, the snowfall created traditional complexity for residents of the capital. Thus, most of the public transport gets to the mountainous part of the capital with problems.
In the evening ice on the roads will continue, and the traffic will be restricted even more. -16D-
