Who is interested in "keeping" the bird flu?
The avian flu situation in Azerbaijan is stable. No new cases have been identified. The last time a sick bird was found was in 2006, Turan was told by the head of the State Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Agriculture, Yolchu Khanvelli.
"During 2012, monitoring held four times in the country, did not reveal any disturbing phenomena; 6,000 domestic birds and 70 migratory were tested. On January 21, 2013 there will be regular monitoring," he said.
Asked to explain why in the neighboring countries, the ban on hunting of migratory birds has long since been abolished, yet in Azerbaijan it has remained for several years, Khanwelli said that in the past 3 years, Veterinary Services has repeatedly filed proposals, but to no avail.
"To close this issue we appealed several times to the Commission established in 2006. To cancel the ban, the decision of the State Commission is required", he said.
The commission consists of employees of the State Commission Ministry of Environment, Veterinary Services and representatives of other organizations and agencies.
The prohibitions and restrictions in relation to avian flu in the Caspian countries, the path of the mass migration of birds, were eliminated 3-4 years ago. In Azerbaijan, no one wants to take responsibility and initiative for this. At the same time, in markets along the highways and on the sea shore there is a group of poachers who shoot and happily sell migratory waterfowl. -05B-
