Teachers’ livelihood

In this article, I will tell you about the social status and income level of teachers in our country. In our country, the financial equivalent of the work of teachers can be considered one of the lowest income levels among other social groups. It is true that in some higher education institutions, this amount is a bit high, but their salary level cannot be considered satisfactory for a decent life. But in spite of all this, they are high in our eyes. They are both valuable and precious. Economists know that price and value are not synonymous. The economic meanings of both are different.

Due to the rapidly changing demand-supply ratio in the market, those who are unable to sell the goods and services they offer to the market at the desired price are cold-blooded. Dear teachers, do not stress when you can not get the desired price of your intellectual product. From an economic point of view, evaluate time rationally and be discreet. There may be times when you can sell a product lying in your "warehouse", like a dusty painting, at a fantastic price in the market. And don't be discouraged by the fact that your book won't do you any good. Your incredible thinking products can also bring you great riches unexpectedly. And don't feel like a Rockefeller at a time like this. The market is volatile. The market will not be stable. Don't worry about supply and demand fluctuations and price fluctuations. Low supply or excess demand in the market is not determined by your desire. Because demand is not passion. Demand refers to the strength of the amount you need to make a purchase. Your passion means that you simply do not have the financial means to get what you need. Your needs include the necessities of life, such as air, water, and bread, which are simply essential.

The same is true of the profession of a teacher. If you cannot get the decent salary you want for the teaching, the profession of a teacher you are used to doing against the background of no alternative will overwhelm you. Even if a job you give your heart to is a heavy burden, you will live as if you were carrying your own burden. If you do not like the job, then even the hair on your head will be a heavy burden.

Your hard work may not be financially equivalent. As it is now in our country. However, the value of a teacher cannot be measured only by financial security and high salary. This is just a financial reward for his work. The real value lies in the importance given to his/her identity. The high value given to teachers in all developed countries of the world is immeasurable.

If we compare the value of a teacher's work in the developed countries of the world, a lot becomes clear. If we convert the average monthly salary of teachers in manats into euros, depending on the work experience and teaching hours in Azerbaijan, it becomes clear that it is around 150-500 euros. As for the average monthly salary in the world, let's look at the situation in some countries: Luxembourg – 5,653 euros, Finland – 3,500-4,500 euros, Germany – 3,550 euros, Ireland – 3,226 euros, Australia – 3,200 euros, the Netherlands – 3,165 euros, the United States – 2,600 euros, Denmark – 3,046 euros, Belgium – 2,688 euros, Great Britain – 2,680 euros, Austria – 2,520 euros, Italy – 1,995 euros, Poland – 999 euros, Turkey – 800 euros, Estonia – 745 euros, Russia – 545 euros, Ukraine – 260 euro, Georgia – 230 euros.

It is true that comparisons with the developed countries of the West and the European Union are not entirely consistent but they do provide some clues to think about. Although the starting line of independence and our levels of development are different, as a country rich in natural resources, we have the opportunity to overcome this distance quickly.

When we wrote in our expert opinions that you should increase teachers' salaries, the answer was that the budget revenues were low, our expenses were high, oil prices had fallen, our oil production had decreased, and so on. However, when there was an oil boom (2006-2012), we had to take measures in the direction of increasing the average level of wages.

Even if we could not do it, it is still not a reason not to do it when things are not going well. However, even when our work goes bad, we must mobilize more resources for science and education. Tom Peters has an interesting idea: "When you do well, double your science and education expenditures, and when you do badly, quadruple them."

One day of the year - Teacher's Day - they receive a flood of congratulations. But on other days as well, we need to think about spending part of the country's money flow to improve teachers’ livelihood. Because Teacher's Day will evoke positive emotions in teachers as well so that teachers have a good livelihood. How can anyone without a good livelihood live at daylight? How can anyone without daylight live at night?

When looking at the Teacher's Day on the calendar, we must also think about teachers’ livelihood...
