Public Council of Talyshs of Azerbaijan called for release of Gubad Ibadoglu
Baku/25.07.23/Turan: The Public Council of Talyshs of Azerbaijan (OST) strongly condemned the arrest of the head of the Azerbaijani Democracy and Welfare Party Gubad Ibadoglu.
The OST statement says that Ibadoglu is one of the brightest political figures actively making efforts to build a civil society and a rule of law state in Azerbaijan. "Professor Gubad Ibadoglu as an intellectual, distinguished by high scientific knowledge, tolerance, democratic socio-political views and worldview, has always had a positive attitude towards the national and cultural progress of the Talysh people, as well as other peoples living in Azerbaijan," the statement continued.
Noting that Ibadoglu's arrest on false charges is connected with his opposition activities, OST demanded his immediate release.—06B-
