Number of Credit Card Transactions Increased Nearly Two and a Half Times
The number of outstanding active cards of Azerbaijani banks increased in September 2013 by 16,000 units, up to 5,347,000 units. The annual increase was 8.7 %.
Thus, in every 1,000 people (of adult age) in the country have an average of more than 891 active payment cards (a year earlier the rate was at 820).
In January -September, cardholders carried 48,503 thousand transactions totaling 7,323 million manat. With the growth of the total number of transactions by 17.5 % and by 15.6 % in volume compared to the same period in 2012, the number of credit card transactions increased by 2.4 times to 6.811 million , while their turnover - 55.2 % up to 1,189 mln manats.
The main part of card transactions in the period of the year still fell on ATMs - 37,847 thousand transactions in the amount of 6,110 million manat. Of these, 98.8 % for operations related to the withdrawal of cash.
Service of the cards was produced by 2,396 ATMs and 35,152 POS- terminals. During the year the number of ATMs increased by 7.37 %, while the number of POS terminals decreased by 4.2%.
As of 1 October 2013 in Baku were established 1,355 ATMs and 31,068 POS terminals. In service facilities operated 33,752 POS terminals, including 30,234 POS terminals in Baku. - 15V -
