Ratified the Treaty on the Exploration and Use of Outer Space
Azerbaijan will expand ties in the framework of international cooperation in the space industry.
This has become possible due to parliamentary ratification and approval of the Head of State of the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies.
Intergovernmental agreement will accelerate the process of integration of the country into outer space. Thanks to its formation and becoming strong intellectual potential in the space sector, there will be strengthened the material-technical base. This will create favorable conditions for the implementation of the objectives set out in the national program for the creation and development of space industry in Azerbaijan.
The Outer Space Treaty (which entered into force in 1967) defines the basic legal framework of international space law. States parties to the Treaty shall pursue activities in the exploration and use of outer space, including the moon and other celestial bodies, in accordance with international law, including the UN Charter, for the maintenance of international peace and security and promoting international cooperation and understanding. - 17D-
