Davit Babayan has no complaints about the conditions of detention - Ombudsman`s office
Baku/06.10.23/Turan: Representatives of the office of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan visited Davit Babayan, the former "Minister of Foreign Affairs" of the separatist regime in Karabakh, who is under arrest. The visit took place within the framework of the National Preventive Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture, the press service of the Ombudsman's office said.
The representatives of the Ombudsman listened to Babayan in confidence, studied the conditions of his detention and treatment, as well as the state of ensuring the rights of the arrested person, the report further says.
Representatives of the Ombudsman responded to Babayan's appeals. It is provided with access to the library and information capabilities. "Davit Babayan had no complaints about the conditions of detention, upon admission to the institution he passed a medical examination. To protect his rights, he is provided with a lawyer," the press release further says.
Babayan was presented with legislative acts and printed materials explaining the procedure for contacting the Ombudsman in the native language of the arrested person.
Babayan was detained on September 29. He is charged under articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan on planning, preparing and waging an aggressive war, involving mercenaries in hostilities, violating international humanitarian law during hostilities, ordering the execution of crimes during hostilities, organizing terrorism, inciting national enmity. ---06B---
