Foreign diplomats are concerned about the state of Ilgar Mamedov
All the lawyers of the REAL Movement leader Ilgar Mamedov headed today to the Baku prison, to the solitary confinement in which Mamedov has been kept since May 30.
Mamedov is kept hungry, and not allowed food from his home. Lawyers are concerned about the fate of Mamedov, who refuses to accept the prison food because of poor quality.
According to the executive secretary of REAL Natig Jafarli, representatives of foreign embassies, including the EU and the missions of international organizations have expressed the wish to visit the detention center to get information about Mamedov.
In the second half of the day Mamedov will be visited by representatives of the Red Cross.
Recall that Mamedov was arrested on charges of organizing the riots in Ismailly on January 23-24. The public considers him a prisoner of conscience.
The European Court of Human Rights decided to consider the complaint from Mammadov out of turn. -16B06-
