Emanuel Macron and Nikol Pashinyan
Macron cannot convince Pashinyan of the need of demarcation of the border with Azerbaijan
Baku/04.08.21/Turan: On August 3, French President Emmanuel Macron had a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Macron congratulated Pashinyan on his appointment to the post of prime minister, the press service of the Armenian government.
Pashinyan informed about the tense situation on the border with Azerbaijan, saying that Baku wants to destabilize the situation in the region. He also complained about “fabricated” trials of Armenian prisoners in Azerbaijan.
“Macron stressed the extreme necessity of demarcation and delimitation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Agreeing with this idea, the Prime Minister of Armenia stressed that the demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are not overcrossing processes. He reiterated the proposal to deploy a CSTO observer mission along the border or, if such a decision is impossible, as an alternative to deploying an observation mission of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs,” it was reported.
Pashinyan further noted that regional initiatives could be successful if they are approved by all the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group.
From this message, it can be concluded that official Yerevan still rejects the calls of Moscow, Washington and Paris on the need to demarcate the border with Azerbaijan. As a reason, Yerevan states that it is impossible to recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and therefore the belonging of Karabakh to Azerbaijan. -02D-
