Musavat condemned the arrest of Seymour Hazy
The Musavat party issued a statement condemning the arrest of the newspaper Azadlig employee Seymour Hazy.
"The recent arrests are evidence that the government has decided to abandon the imitation of democracy," the statement reads.
The arrest of Seymour Hazy is an attempt to defame the journalist. Authorities show an amazing speed when journalists are arrested on trumped up charges. However, the same speed disappears when crimes are committed against members of the media. Therefore, the police have not investigated any fact of pressure or attacks on journalists.
"The arrest of Seymour Hazy was planned and proves that the authorities are intolerant of freedom of expression and continue large-scale repression," the statement reads.
Musavat strongly condemned the arrest and demanded an end to repression and the immediate release of Seymour Hazy and all other political prisoners. -05D04-
