The President of Georgia - Russia could destabilize the half of Eurasia
The President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili said that Russia, if necessary, can destabilize half of Eurasia. However, he suggested not to try to guess where the next conflict will take place. In an interview with EU observer Margvelashvili he said that the war in Ukraine has shown that Russia is ready to activate each of the frozen conflicts in the neighboring countries in order to maintain its influence in the region. "It (Russia) is ready to destabilize the half of the Eurasian continent, if it needs it," said the Georgian president.
According to him, do not try to predict where a new problem will start. Margvelashvili said that the best solution would be an effective system of early warning system in the region. However, he agreed that NATO is currently rethinking their goals and trying to revise its policy. "Russia is one of the factors influencing the transformation of NATO."
Last week, former Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili, who continues to exert a strong influence on Georgian politics, in an interview with the Georgian television channel GDS announced its intention to normalize relations with Russia, recognizing that this process will be long.
"We must continue with patience our economy and must wait until Russia and partner countries recognize, and see that already the time for Georgia to become a NATO member and EU," said Ivanishvili.--02D-
