BP will remain a strategic partner of Azerbaijan
BP is focused on long-term prospects of oil production in the region. That is why the official representative of "BP Azerbaijan", sated the devotion to our country, said the expert Ilham Shaban in his interview with Objective TV (obyektiv.tv).
According to him, the level of oil production of BP is lower than the forecast by 9-10%, but on-land operators short deliver up to 45% of the predicted amounts. The main reason for criticism is that as the main operator of a consortium, BP produces more than 80% of the exported oil and gas. During a year, under the prices of $110 per barrel, the reserves state oil fund increased by $19.5 billion. For a long time the process were much higher, so the gap from the anticipated results is expressed in billions in lost currency.
Each year the company presents reports, which say nothing about the obligations on forecasts, and not fulfilling them. Since late last year up to the London 2012 Olympics, Ilham Aliyev met four times with President of BP, Robert Dudley. According to information received, high intensity of the meetings is explained by BP’s intention to participate in new projects, a contract for the development of the deep layers of gas fields "Azeri-Chirag - Guneshli", and receive a share in the international project TANAP.
As a result of summits, on 5 October BP and Azerbaijan's state oil company signed a new frame agreement providing for joint exploration.
The anger of President of Azerbaijan could be caused by a mismatch of strategic business interests, in particular in the case of the Russian TNK-BP. However, misunderstandings, judging by the number of joint contracts, will be settled, and the company will remain in the list of reliable strategic partners of Azerbaijan, Shabanov said. -17D—
