Activist who left NIDA Movement for the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan party (YAP) is arrested
Former member of the youth movement NIDA, Elsever Mursalli, has been sentenced to three months imprisonment by the decision of Sumgayit Court of Appeal on a charge of insulting. According to "Azadlig" radio referring to the lawyer Jeyhun Yusifov, who represents the interests of the plaintiff, the complaint was filed in the court by a singer Matanat Asadova. The singer claimed that the activist insulted her in social networks, and requested to convict him under the Article 148 of the Criminal Code (insult). What exactly is an insult, is not reported. Initially, the court of Khachmaz region partially upheld the complaint of the singer, and the activist was convicted to six months imprisonment. However, the plaintiff did not agree and filed an appeal. The Judge Nabiyev Hussein passed a sentence of imprisonment for three months, and the activist, was arrested in the courtroom and sent to jail Kurdakhani. In 2014 Mursalli was pardoned by the head of state, after having been convicted for taking part in youth protests in March 2013. Upon his release, he stated about leaving the opposition NIDA Movement, and joined the ruling party YAP.-03D-

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported no information about any destruction or casualties as a result of the earthquakes.
