Yunus spouses cassation postponed
Consideration of the cassation appeal of the spouses Leyla and Arif Yunus scheduled for November 2 at the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan, postponed indefinitely. According to the lawyer Elchin Sadigov, the reason is the presiding judge Ali Seyfaliev, who is on a business trip. The protection requested in the appeal to stop the prosecution of spouses. Leyla Yunus and Arif were arrested in the summer of 2014, and on August 13, 2015 they were sentenced to 8.5 and 7 years in prison, respectively. "Amnesty International" recognized them "prisoners of conscience".
On December 9, 2015 they were released conditionally on probation for five years. On April 19, after persistent appeals of international organizations they were released from Azerbaijan for treatment abroad.-05C06-
