Doctors recommended to operate on the blogger Mehman Huseynov
Baku/20.04.17/Turan: Blogger Mehman Huseynov has serious health problems and he needs a surgical operation, Turan was told by his lawyer Elchin Sadygov. According to him, Huseynov was examined by experts of the Main Medical Department of the Ministry of Justice, recognizing the feasible surgical operation in connection with varicose veins. On this occasion, the lawyer on April 20 formally applied to state agencies with a request to ensure the operation. The lawyer confirmed that the conditions of the blogger's detention had deteriorated, and in connection with the preparation for transfer to the jail, he was placed in a transit cell, where 15 people are kept instead of 10.
In March, the blogger was sentenced to 2 years on charges of libel against Musa Musayev, head of the Nasimi district police in Baku. On April 12, the appellate court upheld the verdict.
Many international organizations have condemned Huseynov's sentence, treating him as a punishment for criticizing the authorities, in particular, for the negative reporting about Mehriban Aliyeva's appointment as vice-president of the country.-05B06-
