Headquarters "Kura" will appeal against the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES)
Staff of civil society "Kura" will submit a lawsuit against the Minister of Emergency Situations, Kamaleddin Heydarov, because of the refusal to answer questions related to the elimination of the consequences of the earthquake in 2012.
MES refused to respond to a request for information, referring to the Article 21.1.1 of the Law on Access to Information, which provides for the refusal to provide information, which is limited by law.
Headquarters "Kura" considers such answer baseless, because we are talking about public decisions and resources which should be accountable to the public. The government allocated 420 million manat to eliminate the effects of the earthquake. Total built about 3,000 homes and more than 20 rural schools have been built, and all the funds have already been spent.
Monitoring of staff in the earthquake zone have revealed numerous cases of financial fraud, additions, corruption, violation of labor legislation, etc. The staff tried to obtain answers to all these questions.
Similar situation was observed in the course of eliminating the consequences of the 2010 floods; the 460 million manta were allocated, and much of them was stolen. The problems have not been solved completely. Today, more than 100 people are suing against the government.—0—
