High-speed railway Baku-Sumgayit is dangerous for pedestrians
Last week, on February 13, a 42-year-old woman was crossing the railway Baku-Sumgayit in the district of Khirdalan. On December 23, 2017, the same train near the Keshlya station killed a pedestrian Sabuhi Azaev. In April 2017, another fatal tragedy occurred on this road. Residents living near the road say that in reality, the number of tragic incidents is higher, but not all of them are published. The chain of tragedies on the high-speed railway suggests the need to close the canvas from pedestrians and animals, the appearance of which on the rails can lead to unhappiness. The passengers can suffer.
Will the railway on the Baku-Sumgayit line be fenced? When? The Azerbaijan Railways answered these questions from Turan that when organizing a high-speed traffic on this line, it was planned to install a fence on both sides of the railway. The plan was the construction of underground and over-ground pedestrian crossings. The construction of technical means of protection is delayed due to the lack of financial resources.
The existing measures to protect the population from high-speed trains in the press service of the company consider warning posters and automatic light signs installed along the road. In especially dangerous areas where the probability of people and animals entering the road is particularly high, work is underway to install fences, the company"s press service added.
Continuing deaths show that the first high-speed railway in Azerbaijan, which has been actively used since June 2015, is a mortal threat to pedestrians and animals passing through it, as well as to machinists and wagon passengers. Eurasia Diary journalists identified the most dangerous sections on the Baku-Sumgayit road. There are no barriers on the highway behind the Khirdalan brewery near the villages of Altayly and Chichek, although there is a high intensity of crossing the railway there. Not even the danger warning posters were noticed. In the area of the brewery, there is only one bar belonging to the plant, which closes the movement of cars through the railway.
The CJSC Azerbaijan Railways can borrow the experience of Uzbekistan, in which along the entire length of the high-speed Tashkent-Samarkand railway a security fence of 684 km in length is installed from prefabricated reinforced concrete and metal structures.
The Sapsan high-speed railway in Russia between St. Petersburg and Moscow is fenced off and protects animals and pedestrians from death both on the rails and from falls because of the powerful wind flow caused by the fast-moving train.
"The train raises powerful whirlwinds that can carry things, and the passengers themselves, from the aprons. This airflow can lift gravel out of the way. Therefore, the fence, obviously, can save the life and health of citizens living near the railway, but will make their existence even more uncomfortable.
The trains abroad are not fenced off in all cities. It is just that their way is being set apart from people: in ravines or along multi-lane highways. So, the main way of safety of high-speed highways abroad is not fencing, but laying rails in places where they do not interfere with people, - reported in 2010 ria.ru in the article "Sapsan" carries problems with the carriage ".
