Innovations in Registration of Foreigners
Baku / 05.10.18 / Turan: From now on, foreigners and stateless persons arriving in Azerbaijan can reside in the country for 15 days without registering.
In this regard, changes have been made to the decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers on the models "Rules for filling out visa forms", "Application form for obtaining a visa", "Petition of the party inviting foreigners and stateless persons to Azerbaijan".
According to the Cabinet of Ministers, the changes were signed by Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov on October 4.
According to the changes, from now on, the State Migration Service will receive applications for registration of foreigners and stateless persons staying in Azerbaijan for more than 15 days. Previously, this period was 10 days.
Amendments have also been made to the provisions on inviting foreigners and stateless persons to Azerbaijan.
From now on, for issuing a visa to a foreigner or a stateless person, an application from the inviting party will be required. Until now, an official note of a country or an international organization, which was represented by foreigners or stateless persons or petitions of the relevant structures of Azerbaijan, was required.
In addition, from now on, the inviting non-governmental organization will have to submit a copy of the certificate of its state registration.
These rules do not apply to tourist and transit visas. -0-

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.
