Nijat Rahimov May Be Deprived of Gold Medal?
The International Weightlifting Federation will expel Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus from competitions after the Olympic Games in Rio. The decision on the disqualification will be taken in the autumn of 2016. This was announced by the President of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), Tamas Ajan, on August 16. "After the Games we will disqualify these countries - I guarantee it," the head of the IWF stressed.
Ayan said he expects information on the results of doping re-analysis on a number of athletes. He admitted that in addition to those already mentioned the federations of several other countries could be disqualified. According to President of the IWF, the final decision on the disqualification will be taken "at the end of September or in early October."
Recall that in the Kazakhstan national team the gold medal in the weight category of 77 kg went to the ethnic Azerbaijani Nijat Rahimov.
Weightlifters from Russia and Bulgaria and several others from Azerbaijan were also expelled from participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro for the use of illicit drugs. -02D-

The closure of Azerbaijan's land borders was discussed during the parliamentary session on November 25. While the government’s decision cites the coronavirus pandemic as the main reason—despite the World Health Organization declaring its end last year—Zahid Oruj, Chair of the Human Rights Committee in the Milli Majlis, pointed to other factors. He stated, "Opening the borders could result in an influx of hundreds of thousands of non-Azerbaijani refugees due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Additionally, in Iran, many are prepared to cross into Azerbaijan to safeguard their lives and assets amid military strikes. Such waves of refugees could lead to humanitarian, social, and cultural clashes that may threaten political stability."
