NPG members visited NIDA activists in the jail
Baku / 20.10.17 / Turan: Members of the National Preventive Group (NPG) at the Ombudsman held confidential interviews with other activists of the NIDA movement Bayram Mammadov, Ilkin Rustamzadeh and Elgiz Gahraman as part of the monitoring in jail N.13 on the eve. According to the press release of the ombudsman's office, the members of the NPG were interested in securing the rights of the convicts, answered their questions, and their appeals were investigated on the spot.
"It was revealed that these people did not refuse to eat. At the same time, Bayram Mammadov's statement to the Ombudsman was adopted in connection with the change of his bed," the report said.
The administration and officials of the institution discussed the conditions of detention of convicts, the realization of their rights and given appropriate recommendations based on international legal norms.
Following the visit, an appeal will be made to the Ministry of Justice, the press release said. -03D06-
