The Chief Executive sends a flood-affected to the Ministry for Emergency Situations
About a hundred villagers of Ahtachy, Gasymbeyli and other villages of Sabirabad region came on Monday to the executive power, demanding fulfillment of the obligations of the state to eliminate the effects of floods in 2010.
Farmers are angry because they are have not been given the promised cash compensation, and are not helped to build or repair homes, and most importantly, do not assist in the restoration of farms.
The Chief of the Executive Power Nazim Ismailov told the complainants said that the elimination of the consequences of flooding is the responsibility of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and recommended them to go there.
Minister of Emergency Situations Kemaladin Heydarov met in June in Sabirabad with victims of flooding and pledged funds. Soon the issue of money began, but was later suspended.
During spring and summer floods in 2010 eight low-lying areas along the rivers Kura and Araz were flooded; more than 100,000 hectares of land and 20,000 homes were flooded. Till July 2012 ,about 500 million were allocated, but the government has not fulfilled obligations to their citizens.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Irrigation and Water Management were instructed to remove the flood consequences, and it was accompanied by numerous corruption and fraud, which was reflected in the records of staff of civil society "Kura" National Budget Group.
However, instead of eliminating the negatives , the authorities have started repression and arrests of activists, and pressure on them. At the present local activists and Ilham Amiraslanov and Mirabad Rzayev are under arrest.
However, repression and moral pressure, did not bring the expected result and the protests are increasing.—0—
