The Prosecutor"s Office reports on anti-corruption fight
The General Directorate for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General's Office conducted the press conference on the results of fight against corruption for 2014.
According to the head of the Office, Kamran Aliyev, last year 3194 complaints of citizens were considered, 218 materials were examined , and 82% of them were prosecuted. For the rest of the materials were taken preventive measures. Last year were over and sent to the courts 206 criminal cases against 333 people.
"Nine lawsuits were filed on the fact of taking a bribe, and four cases on investigation into bribery. Sixteen people were brought to trial for taking bribe, and for bribery - 5 people," he said.
Twenty two cases were filed against 43 people on charges of abuse of office. For abuse of power were filed six lawsuits, for assignment of authority – four cases against 7 persons. According to official negligence were instituted three proceedings against six people, and five people have been brought to justice on four lawsuits on charges of negligence.
Seventy nine 79 criminal cases instituted against 134 people for embezzlement and misappropriation with abusing official position. For fraud through abuse of office were filed 59 cases against 95 persons.
Fourteen lawsuits were filed for the use of false documents, said Kamran Aliyev.
During the investigation it was compensated the damage amounting AZN 54,885,691, which accounted for 72% of the total amount of damage (76165 41 manat.)
Kamran Aliyev also noted that of the total number of cases, 19 belong to the education system, 18 - the banking sector, 3 - the social sphere, 7 - local executive authorities to municipalities 4, 3 - health, 2 - enforcement bodies, and 1 - prosecuting authorities.
The Secretary of the Commission for Combating Corruption, Vusal Huseynov, reported on the updated site rusum.az. According to him, visiting the site will facilitate citizens to obtain the necessary information. Through this site citizens can electronically apply to the various state agencies, learn the rules for obtaining licenses to pay online bills, get in line in the “Asan hidmet” to get information about obtaining visas to various countries, etc., he said.
Representatives of NGOs highlighted the importance of measures to protect the rights of citizens complaining of corruption.
Asking the question from Turan why declarations of income is not still implemented, which was supposed to be taken nine years ago, Vusal Huseynov modestly remarked that "there is no news in this area ."
Kamran Aliyev, in turn, said about the continuation of the criminal case against the former rector of Azerbaijan International University, Elshad Abdullayev, as well as investigations into a private company, where was discovered the theft in the amount of 35 million manat.
Regarding the case of the president of the group "AMAY" Abdulla Abdullayev, the Kamran Aliyev told about the return of 43 of 48 million manat stolen by Abdullayev. In connection with the remaining amount, the property s of Abdullayev is arrested. -03C04-
