Died founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival

Founder and CEO of the legendary jazz festival in Montreux, Switzerland, Claude Nobs died at 77 year of age, according to AP.

The tragic event occurred on Thursday. Switzerland's most famous musical figure, died from injuries sustained in a fall while skiing.

December 24 during skiing, an accident happened to Nobs. He had surgery at the University Hospital of the Canton of Vaud. At that time, information was received that the mastermind of one of the most important music events in Europe is in a coma.

In the spring of 2010 the legendary founder of the festival, said that due to health he would transfer control over "operational matters" to his successor Mathieu Zhaton. However, the general guide of the festival left in the hands of Nobs.

Montreux Jazz Festival has been held since 1967 and is one of the biggest jazz festivals in the world. Already in the seventies of the last century, the organizers began to include in its program not only classical jazz musicians, and in the eighties rock and even pop starts began to arrive in Switzerland. Every year the festival in Montreux is attended by not less than 250 thousand people. Tickets for many concerts are completely sold out long before the opening.
