Postage Stamp for 70th Anniversary of Magomayev
Postage stamps have been issued by the 70th anniversary of the world famous singer and composer Muslim Magomayev, which will be celebrated on August 17. This was done by Azermarka Company under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan.
The nominal value of the stamps issued in hundreds of thousand copies is 50 gyapik (about 0.63 dollars), according to RIAN.
On Saturday in the Chamber and Organ Music Hall of the State Philharmonic Society a concert will be performed in memory of the great singer. During the concert a film will be shown about the life of Magomayev.
Muslim Magomayev died in October 2008, when he was 66. His concert repertoire included more than 600 works: Russian romances, classical, pop and Neapolitan songs. He starred in the films Nizami, Muslim Magomayev Singing and Moscow in Notes.
Magomayev wrote more than 20 songs and music for films. He was also the author and host of television series about the life and work of the American singer Mario Lanza, and wrote a book about this artist. In 1997 his name - 4980 Magomayev was given to one of the minor planets in the Solar System, known to astronomers under the code 1974 SP1. -0 -
