At the Heydar Aliyev Center, there was a premiere of the feature film Ali and Nino, filmed on the basis of the novel by Kurban Said.
According to Turan, the film tells the story of love between a Georgian woman and an Azerbaijani man living in Baku in the period of important political processes in the world of the early twentieth century. Events in the film cover the period beginning World War I, the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia, the creation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on May 28, 1918, and the Bolshevik Army's occupation of Azerbaijan on April 28, 1920.
The main topic of the film is the struggle of Azerbaijanis for the creation of an independent republic. The hero of the film Ali Khan acts against Azerbaijanis' participation in World War I as part of the Russian army, saying that it is "not a war of Azerbaijanis". After creating ADR, he actively participates in the process of establishing diplomatic relations of the new republic with other states. The protagonist dies in the final battle with the Bolshevik troops that entered the territory of Azerbaijan, thus bringing the family fortune as a sacrifice to the ideals of the independent republic.
Of the historical figures the film shows the Prime Minister Fatali Khan Khoyski. By the way, in general, the successful film project has a defect that at the first appearance of Fatali Khan Khoysky in the frame he was not presented to the viewer. And the fact that this character is F. Kh. Khoyski can be guessed only by Azerbaijani viewers.
In the film, the creation of ADR is announced exactly by F. Kh. Khoyski, while that was a historical statement by the founder of ADR Mammad Emin Rasulzadeh. His famous words "A flag raised once never falls" also appear in the film as said by F. Kh. Khoyski.
Speaking after the presentation of the film, the producer Chris Ticker, expressing gratitude to all individuals and organizations who helped during the shooting, said the film will be certainly successful in Azerbaijan and gain popularity not only in the country but also abroad.
The premiere was also attended by the executive producer Leila Aliyeva, the screenwriter Christopher Hampton, Maria Valverde who plays Nino, Numan Ajahn who plays Ali Khan's friend Seyid Moustapha, and other actors.
Note that the presentation was attended by the First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, heads of several ministries and state committees, and prominent actors. -71B-
