Prosecutor General of Istanbul: Journalist Killed in Saudi Diplomatic Mission
Baku / 10.31.18 / Turan: The Saudi journalist Jamal Kashikchy fell victim to a planned murder. He was strangled immediately after entering the building of the Consulate General of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul. After the murder, the journalist's body was dismembered and destroyed. The Prosecutor General of Istanbul said this today, Turan IA reported from Turkey.
"Despite Ankara"s best efforts to solve the crime, negotiations with Riyadh did not bring results. Turkey again appealed to Saudi Arabia, demanding the extradition of those arrested for involvement in the Kashikchy murder," the Prosecutor"s Office said after talks with the Saudi Arabian Prosecutor General.
It is also reported that a delegation led by the Prosecutor General of Istanbul has been invited to Saudi Arabia as part of the investigation into the Kashikchy killing.
To continue the negotiations, the Prosecutor General of Turkey has been invited to Saudi Arabia.
A well-known Saudi journalist, Jamal Kashikchy, who actively collaborated with the Washington Post, entered the building of the Consulate General of Saudi Arabia on October 2 to receive a number of documents. Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey, having studied the data from video surveillance cameras, came to the conclusion that the journalist did not leave the building of the Consulate General. Riyadh initially refuted a number of media reports that Kashikchy was killed in the embassy building.
The fact of the journalist's death was recognized by Riyadh only on October 19.
