Armenian Prime Minister Sees Glimmer of Hope in Karabakh Situation

Baku/22.09.23/Turan: In a government meeting held today, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the ongoing challenges in Karabakh while cautiously expressing optimism about the potential for positive developments in the region. Pashinyan acknowledged the persistent humanitarian and military-political tensions in Karabakh but noted that discussions held with authorities in the region have sparked some hope for progress.

"The situation in Karabakh remains difficult," Prime Minister Pashinyan stated, "but we are in constant contact with our colleagues from Karabakh, and based on the results of our discussions this morning, there is reason to believe that some positive progress may be on the horizon." He emphasized the importance of understanding the dynamic nature of the situation and the need for clear, up-to-date information.Residents of the settlements of Karabakh can get a real opportunity to return to their homes.

Pashinyan highlighted the potential for improved humanitarian conditions, including the possibility of additional humanitarian aid shipments entering Karabakh. However, he cautioned that certain agreements needed to be implemented and that the rapidly changing situation made it difficult to predict outcomes.

In a sign of cooperation, the Azerbaijani side expressed readiness during yesterday's talks in Yevlakh to provide essential humanitarian assistance to the Armenian population in the region. In collaboration with Armenian authorities, shipments containing approximately 40 tons of medicines and food were promptly dispatched.

Furthermore, the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev, announced that the Azerbaijani government had created and would continue to ensure the necessary conditions for the delivery of medicines, food, and other essential goods via the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) along the Lachyn-Khankendi and Aghdam-Khankendi roads.

As tensions persist in the region, both sides appear to be taking steps to address the humanitarian needs of the affected population, offering a glimmer of hope for improved conditions in Karabakh. However, the situation is ambiguous, which makes it difficult to predict the final result of these efforts.-0-
