Armenians offended by the visit of Azerbaijani deputies to the "Blue Mosque" in Yerevan
Baku/23.02.22/Turan: Azerbaijani deputies Soltan Mammadov and Tair Mirkishili, who are at the Euronest meeting in Yerevan, visited the "Blue Mosque."
“As far as we know, this is the only monument of Azerbaijan preserved in Yerevan. Despite the inscription on the wall, about belonging to another state, the walls, architecture, spirit of the mosque are primordially ours. We feel this relationship. We believe that the true owners will soon be able to pray here. The prayers of Azerbaijanis are always peaceful and kind and, in the end, they are heard,” Tahir Mirkishili wrote this on his Facebook page.
The Armenian society regarded this as another claim to Yerevan and a political demarche.
It should be noted that this mosque was built in 1766 by the ruler of the Iravan Khanate, Husseinali Khan Gajar. This is the only one of the eight Shiite mosques that have survived in Yerevan.
The Armenian side calls this mosque "Iranian". -02D-
